Abstract
We observed serum aspirinesterase activity in 66 cases of various hepatic diseases, including 10 cases of acute hepatitis, 24 cases of chronic hepatitis, 24 cases of cirrhosis of the liver, and 8 cases of hepatoma.
The results were as follows:
1) The aspirinesterase activity in acute viral hepatitis was 117¡¾38(Mean¡¾SD) aspirinesterase activity units(A.U.) which was lower than the normal(190¡¾ 19A.U.).
2) The aspirinesterase activity units were 139¡¾ 3.7A.U.(Mean¡¾SD) in chronic hepatitis, 124¡¾42A. U. in cirrhosis of the liver, and 153¡¾29A.U. in hepatoma. The aspirinesterase activity in the chronic liver diseases was also lower than the normal.
It was revealed that the serum aspirinesterase activity could reflect the hepatic dysfunction significantly, but not indicate the diagnostic significance for a liver disease.
